K9 Kindy Flexible Group Class

When you have a new puppy, the early learning stages are critical. This period is when your dog is the most open to learning and the most interested in you, providing an ideal time to introduce obedience and socialisation training. We created Adelaide’s first flexible K9 Kindy program to ensure that owners don’t miss out on training during this time.

Our K9 Kindy training sessions are designed to take advantage of this important stage, while giving you the guidance and support to become a confident owner and raise a puppy that grows into a happy, well-adjusted adult dog. We provide three types of growth and support each class. Through obedience and skill training, you are given strong foundations to teach your dog how to be a polite and fun member of the household, while improving your skills as a trainer. Through theory blocks, we discuss common struggles and challenges for puppy owners and strategies to set you and your dog up for a successful life togther. And through our socialisation sessions, your dog learns how to be confident around other dogs, how to play nicely, and how to read and respond to other dog’s body language cues appropriately.

Each week of class stands alone, and follows a different theme every week to provide a wide range of important learning opportunities. The themes are:

  • Foundation Skills
  • Play & Confidence
  • Manners
  • Grooming & Handling
  • Impulse Control
  • Problem Prevention

Throughout the course our trainers will also support you with any individual challenges you are having and offer guidance on how to best address you and your pups goals and needs.

Preparing for your first class

When you are ready to start K9 Kindy, make sure you’ve booked in through our gingr portal or with our lovely admin team. On your first day, you will want to bring:

  • Your pup on whatever equipment you are using to walk them (we require all puppies to be on lead)
  • A mat for training and for them to settle on in between skills
  • Some treats for rewards (we also recommend a treat pouch!)
  • A quiet toy for rewarding or to keep them occupied in between skills

If it is your first class, your trainers will bring you through to the training area and show you where class will be held, as well as answer any questions you may have and help you feel comfortable. You will also be taught a couple of basic skills needed each week of class, if you are new to training and would like extra time for this, we recommend coming 10-15 minutes early to your first lesson.

FAQ’s

The best time to start puppy training is from around 8 weeks of age, when your puppy is in their critical socialisation period.

The first few months of your puppy’s life are one of the most important opportunities to shape how they respond to the world around them. Between 8 and 16 weeks of age, puppies are naturally more receptive to new experiences, making this the ideal time to introduce them to different people, environments and other puppies in a safe, structured setting.

Our K9 Kindy puppy training classes in Adelaide are designed specifically for this stage of development. Rather than waiting until unwanted habits have already formed, you can begin teaching your puppy positive behaviours from the very beginning. This early foundation helps you build clear communication, trust and confidence together while your puppy is still developing lifelong habits.

One of the biggest advantages of our K9 Kindy program is our flexible booking system. Instead of waiting weeks for the next course to begin, you can join whenever your puppy is ready. That means you don’t have to worry about missing valuable learning opportunities during this important developmental window.

Starting early also gives you access to experienced trainers who can answer your questions as they arise. Whether you’re navigating your puppy’s first few weeks at home or simply want reassurance that you’re on the right track, having professional guidance can make raising your puppy feel much more enjoyable and less overwhelming.

If you’re looking for puppy training in Adelaide, beginning your puppy’s learning journey early gives both you and your puppy the best opportunity to build skills that will support you for years to come.

K9 Kindy helps your puppy develop confidence, positive social experiences and the foundations for lifelong good behaviour.

Our K9 Kindy classes are about much more than teaching cues, although we do teach several important foundational obedience skills. During this important stage of development, your puppy is learning how to navigate the world around them, and our program is designed to make those early experiences positive, safe and rewarding.

Throughout the classes, your puppy is gradually introduced to new environments, people and other puppies in a structured setting. These experiences help them develop confidence while learning that unfamiliar situations don’t need to be frightening or overwhelming.

At the same time, you’ll be building the relationship between you and your puppy through positive reinforcement training. Our experienced trainers will guide you through practical techniques that encourage learning in a way that is gentle, effective and backed by science. Every puppy learns differently, so you’ll also receive personalised guidance to help meet your puppy’s individual needs.

The benefits extend well beyond the classroom. As your puppy develops positive habits early, everyday life becomes more enjoyable. Outings become opportunities for learning rather than sources of stress, and you’ll have greater confidence knowing you have practical strategies to continue your puppy’s development at home.

K9 Kindy is designed to give both puppies and owners the tools they need to succeed. By investing in your puppy’s early education, you’re laying the groundwork for a confident, well-adjusted companion and creating a strong partnership that can continue to grow long after the classes have finished.

Early socialisation helps your puppy build confidence by creating positive experiences during one of the most important stages of their development.

Between 8 and 16 weeks of age, puppies experience what is known as the critical socialisation period. During this time, they are especially open to learning about the world around them and forming lasting associations with the people, places and experiences they encounter.

Providing safe, structured exposure during this window can have a significant impact on your puppy’s confidence as they mature. That’s why our K9 Kindy classes focus on introducing puppies to new environments, different people and other puppies in a controlled setting where they can learn and grow at their own pace.

For many owners, this also creates peace of mind. Instead of wondering whether you’re exposing your puppy to enough experiences, or introducing them in the right way, you’ll have experienced trainers guiding you throughout the process. You’ll gain practical knowledge that you can continue applying outside the classroom as your puppy encounters new situations in everyday life.

Early socialisation isn’t about overwhelming your puppy with as many experiences as possible. It’s about helping them develop positive associations while they’re naturally most receptive to learning. This creates a stronger foundation for confidence, communication and good behaviour as your puppy grows.

By enrolling in puppy training during this important developmental stage, you’re giving your puppy the opportunity to develop essential life skills while strengthening the bond between you. It’s an investment that supports not only your puppy’s development but also your enjoyment of life together in the years ahead.

Yes, puppies can begin K9 Kindy before they have completed their full vaccination schedule, provided they meet the program’s vaccination requirements.

Our facility uses hospital grade disinfectant and requires that all adult dogs visiting the venue are fully vaccinated. This provides a safe environment for puppies who are not yet fully protected. If you are still unsure, we recommend working with our staff and your veterinary team to determine what is right for you and your dog.

One of the biggest concerns new puppy owners have is whether they need to wait until every vaccination has been completed before starting training. Waiting, however, can mean missing valuable time during your puppy’s critical socialisation period, which occurs between 8 and 16 weeks of age.

Our K9 Kindy program is designed to help puppies start learning from as early as 8 weeks of age. Before attending class, you’ll need to provide proof of your puppy’s vaccinations as required by the program. This allows us to provide a safe and structured learning environment for everyone participating.

Starting puppy training early means your puppy can begin building confidence, experiencing new environments and developing positive associations while they’re most receptive to learning. At the same time, you’ll receive professional guidance to help you establish good habits from the beginning rather than trying to change unwanted behaviours later.

If you’re unsure whether your puppy is ready to attend, our team can help you understand the program requirements and answer any questions you may have before your first class. Bringing your vaccination records along is one of the simple steps that helps create a safe experience for all puppies involved.

Beginning training at the right stage of your puppy’s development gives both of you the opportunity to build strong foundations together while making the most of this unique learning period.

K9 Kindy helps establish positive habits early by giving puppies the right experiences during their critical learning period.

Puppies are constantly learning from the moment they come home. Every interaction, experience and routine contributes to the behaviours they develop as they grow. By starting training early, you’re giving your puppy the opportunity to build positive habits before unwanted ones have a chance to become established.

Our K9 Kindy Flexi-Class is designed with this in mind. Because you can join without waiting for a fixed course start date, your puppy can begin learning while they’re still within their important socialisation period. This means you don’t have to delay training and risk missing valuable opportunities to introduce positive experiences.

Throughout the program, puppies are exposed to new people, environments and other puppies in a safe and structured setting while owners learn positive reinforcement techniques from experienced trainers. You’ll also receive personalised guidance and ongoing support to help you navigate common challenges as your puppy grows.

For many owners, this early support creates confidence as well as practical skills. Instead of guessing whether you’re handling new situations correctly, you’ll have professional advice to help you make informed decisions throughout your puppy’s development.

The result is a stronger foundation built on trust, communication and positive learning experiences. While every puppy develops at their own pace, investing in early puppy training gives you the opportunity to guide your puppy towards becoming a confident, well-adjusted companion while making everyday life together more enjoyable from the very beginning.

ABT’s K9 Kindy combines flexible enrolment, positive reinforcement training and personalised support to help puppies and their owners get the most from their early learning experience.

Choosing a puppy training class isn’t just about finding somewhere to teach your puppy basic skills, it’s about finding a program that supports both you and your puppy during one of the most important stages of development. At ABT, our K9 Kindy program has been designed to make puppy training practical, accessible and enjoyable for new owners.

Unlike traditional courses with fixed start dates, our Flexi-Class system allows you to start when your puppy is ready, rather than waiting for a new intake. This is especially valuable because puppies learn best during their critical socialisation period between 8 and 16 weeks of age. Starting at the right time means you can make the most of this important developmental window.

Classes are delivered using positive-focused balanced methods that encourage learning through rewarding desired behaviours. This approach helps create positive learning experiences while strengthening the relationship between you and your puppy.

Another feature of K9 Kindy is the personalised guidance you’ll receive throughout the program. Every puppy is different, and our experienced trainers are available to answer questions, provide practical advice and help you apply what you learn to everyday life at home.

Whether you’re raising your first puppy or adding another dog to your family, K9 Kindy gives you the knowledge, support and confidence to enjoy the journey together. If you’re looking for puppy training in Adelaide that fits around your schedule while focusing on your puppy’s development, K9 Kindy provides a flexible and supportive place to start.

Bringing your puppy’s vaccination records, walking equipment, and arriving ready to learn together will help you get the most out of your first K9 Kindy class. We also recommend stocking up on treats and grabbing a treat pouch for easy access.

Your first K9 Kindy class is an exciting milestone for both you and your puppy. It’s the beginning of your training journey together and an opportunity to start building the skills and confidence that will support you long after the classes are complete.

Before attending, you’ll need to provide proof that your puppy meets the vaccination requirements for the program. This helps maintain a safe environment for every puppy attending class while allowing young puppies to begin training during their important socialisation period.

Beyond the practical requirements, one of the most valuable things you can bring is an open mind and a willingness to learn alongside your puppy. K9 Kindy isn’t just about your puppy’s education, it’s also about helping you understand how puppies learn and giving you practical techniques that you can continue using at home.

Throughout the class, our experienced trainers will guide you through positive reinforcement training methods and answer questions that arise along the way. You’ll also have opportunities to watch your puppy interact with new people, environments and other puppies in a structured setting, helping you better understand their behaviour and development.

Many owners leave their first class feeling more confident because they have practical strategies they can immediately apply at home. That confidence continues to grow as your puppy develops new skills and you strengthen your communication and relationship together through consistent, positive training.

You don’t need to wait for a new course to begin, as K9 Kindy’s flexible enrolment allows you to start when your puppy is ready.

One of the challenges many new puppy owners face is finding a training course that begins at the right time. With puppies developing so quickly during their first few months, waiting several weeks for the next available intake can mean missing valuable learning opportunities.

That’s why ABT’s K9 Kindy uses Adelaide’s first Flexi-Class system rather than fixed course start dates. Instead of working around a set schedule, you can enrol your puppy as soon as they’re ready to begin, helping you make the most of their critical socialisation period between 8 and 16 weeks of age.

Starting early means your puppy can begin experiencing positive interactions with new people, environments and other puppies while they’re naturally most receptive to learning. At the same time, you’ll receive guidance from experienced trainers who can help answer questions and provide practical advice from the beginning of your puppy ownership journey.

This flexible approach also makes it easier to fit puppy training into your lifestyle. Rather than delaying your puppy’s education because of course availability, you can begin building positive habits, confidence and communication at the stage when it matters most.

If you’ve recently welcomed a puppy into your home, there’s no need to put training on hold while waiting for a new intake. K9 Kindy is designed to help you get started sooner, giving both you and your puppy the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of early learning and professional support from the outset.

Yes, K9 Kindy is designed to support both puppies and their owners by providing practical guidance throughout the early stages of training.

Bringing home a puppy is exciting, but it’s also natural to have questions about whether you’re doing the right thing. From understanding puppy behaviour to knowing how to respond in different situations, new owners often benefit from experienced guidance during those first few months.

K9 Kindy is designed to give you that support while your puppy is learning. Throughout the program, you’ll learn positive reinforcement techniques that you can confidently use at home, helping you build clear communication and a positive relationship with your puppy from the beginning.

You’ll also have access to experienced trainers who can answer questions and provide personalised advice based on your puppy’s individual needs. Because every puppy develops differently, having professional guidance can help you adapt your training and continue making steady progress as your puppy grows.

Many owners find that as their puppy becomes more confident in new environments and around other people and puppies, they become more confident too. Understanding why your puppy behaves the way they do and knowing how to encourage positive behaviours can make everyday life feel far less overwhelming.

Rather than feeling like you’re working things out on your own, K9 Kindy gives you practical knowledge, ongoing support and proven training methods that you can continue using well beyond the classroom. It’s an investment in your puppy’s development, but it’s also an investment in your own confidence as a dog owner.

K9 Kindy provides your puppy with a strong foundation that you can continue building on as they grow. Our Life Skills and Obedience classes provide a pathway to continue refining their skills as they grow as well.

Graduating from K9 Kindy isn’t the end of your puppy’s learning journey, it’s the beginning of a lifetime of learning together. The skills, confidence and positive experiences your puppy develops during their early training provide a valuable foundation that can support future learning and everyday life.

Throughout K9 Kindy, you’ll learn positive reinforcement techniques that don’t stop being useful once the classes finish. Instead, you’ll be able to continue using these methods at home as your puppy matures, reinforcing the behaviours you’ve already started to develop and introducing new skills over time.

Perhaps just as importantly, you’ll leave with a better understanding of how your puppy learns and how to communicate effectively with them. That knowledge allows you to approach future training with greater confidence and consistency, helping strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

The confidence your puppy gains through structured socialisation and positive learning experiences can also continue to benefit them as they encounter new people, places and situations throughout their life. While every dog continues to learn and develop, starting with a strong foundation makes it easier to build on those early experiences.

For our owners, K9 Kindy is the first step towards raising a confident, well-adjusted companion while creating enjoyable everyday experiences together. The lessons you both learn during puppyhood can continue to shape your relationship for years to come, making the investment in early training one that continues to deliver long after the final class.
