Drop in classes
Flexible, tailored obedience training
We understand that busy schedules or personal circumstances can make it difficult to commit to ongoing training, but at ABT+ we don’t want that to mean going without support. Our Drop In classes bridge this gap by providing flexible class options. Each class stands alone and is customised to the goals and needs of those attending each session.
This is ideal if you aren’t able to commit to ongoing classes, but is also helpful for a number of training goals that simply don’t fit in to a standard class. These may include:
- Assessing your dog’s current level of training and obedience to determine the best ongoing training plan
- Focusing your training on a small number of skills that are most important to you, your dog, and your family.
- Learning at your own pace. If you are new to training and need extra guidance, or are excelling and want to be challenged at a faster pace.
Whatever your situation, our professional trainers will provide a class structure to work towards your goals and overcome challenges. Each class features a blend of group training and personalised attention, both with hands-on and practical guidance, to ensure that you are getting the most out of each session. You will also be given guidance and advice on homework and next steps to ensure that your progress continues outside of the classroom.
If you have specific targets to meet or simply want a more flexible training option, book in to start now.

Not sure if you're ready for class?
If you want to assess your dog and which training options are best for them, we recommend a 30 minute consult. This allows us to spend time getting to know you and your dog and creating their comprehensive training plan in advance, so when you start training with us, you can hit the ground running.
It also provides a calm introduction to the space and environment if your dog hasn't visited us before, allowing us to set them up for success.

What are the benefits of joining group dog training classes in Adelaide?
Group dog training classes give you the opportunity to build your dog’s skills in a structured environment while receiving guidance from experienced trainers.
Training at home is an excellent place to begin, but everyday life is full of distractions that can make even well-known behaviours more challenging. Group dog training classes help bridge that gap by allowing you and your dog to practise important life skills around other dogs and people in a supportive setting.
At ABT+, our group classes are designed to help owners work towards their individual goals while benefiting from the motivation and learning opportunities that come from training alongside others. You’ll receive personalised guidance from our behavioural trainers throughout the class, ensuring that your dog’s progress remains the priority.
One of the biggest advantages of group training is learning how to maintain your dog’s focus when there are distractions nearby. These real-world challenges help strengthen communication between you and your dog while developing practical skills that can be applied outside the classroom.
For many owners, the benefits extend well beyond obedience. As training progresses, everyday activities often become more enjoyable because you have greater confidence in your dog’s ability to listen, respond and engage with you. Whether you’re heading out for a walk, visiting friends or simply enjoying time together, group training helps build the foundation for a stronger partnership and a dog you’re proud to take out and about.
Are your group dog training classes suitable for all dogs?
Yes, our group training classes are designed to cater for dogs with a variety of goals, experience levels and training needs.
Every dog learns differently, which is why our group classes focus on supporting individual progress rather than expecting every dog to achieve exactly the same outcomes at the same pace.
Whether you’re looking to improve everyday manners, build obedience skills, strengthen your dog’s focus around distractions or continue developing existing skills, our trainers work with you to tailor the experience towards your goals.
Our small class sizes allow trainers to provide personalised guidance throughout each session. This means you can receive practical advice that’s relevant to your dog while still benefiting from the learning opportunities that come from training in a group environment.
Training around other dogs and people also creates valuable opportunities to practise real-life skills. Instead of only learning in isolation, your dog can gradually build confidence and responsiveness in situations that better reflect everyday life.
Many owners appreciate that they don’t have to choose between structured learning and individual support. Group classes provide both, helping you continue developing your dog’s skills while receiving professional guidance every step of the way.
Whether you’re starting your training journey or looking to continue building on existing skills, our Adelaide group dog training classes provide a welcoming environment where both you and your dog can continue learning together.
What will my dog learn in a group training class?
Your dog will learn practical life skills while improving their ability to focus and respond around everyday distractions.
Our group classes are designed to help dogs develop skills that make life easier both at home and out in the community. Rather than focusing on isolated exercises alone, the program encourages dogs to practise listening and working with their owners while other dogs and people are nearby.
Throughout the classes, you’ll work on general training skills while progressing towards your own individual goals. Your trainer will provide personalised feedback and practical advice, helping you adapt your training to suit your dog’s learning style and current stage of development.
Learning in a group environment also gives dogs the opportunity to develop greater focus in situations where distractions are naturally present. These experiences help strengthen communication between you and your dog while preparing you for the kinds of environments you’ll encounter in everyday life.
Just as importantly, you’ll learn alongside your dog. Understanding how to communicate clearly, reinforce behaviours consistently and continue practising at home can make a significant difference to your long-term progress.
Many owners find that group training helps transform everyday moments into opportunities for success. Walks become more enjoyable, outings feel less stressful and training becomes something both you and your dog look forward to sharing together.
Why is training around other dogs important?
Training around other dogs helps your dog learn to stay focused and responsive in real-world situations.
It’s common for dogs to perform well in familiar environments but become distracted once other dogs, people or exciting surroundings are involved. Group dog training provides a structured opportunity to practise important skills while these everyday distractions are present.
Rather than avoiding challenging situations, your dog learns how to continue engaging with you while working in an environment that more closely resembles real life. This makes it easier to transfer the skills you practise during class into your daily routines.
For owners, this often means greater confidence as well. You’ll receive guidance from experienced trainers while learning how to handle distractions calmly and effectively, giving you practical techniques that can be used beyond the training facility.
The supportive group environment also allows owners to see that they’re not alone in their training journey. Every dog is learning, progressing and developing at their own pace, creating an encouraging atmosphere where everyone is working towards similar goals.
As your dog’s focus and responsiveness improve around distractions, everyday outings can become more enjoyable. Instead of worrying about every passing dog or busy environment, you’ll have greater confidence in your ability to communicate with your dog wherever life takes you.
How do your trainers personalise group dog training?
Our trainers provide personalised guidance throughout each class to help you work towards your individual training goals.
Although everyone trains together, no two dogs are exactly alike. Every dog has different strengths, challenges and learning styles, which is why our trainers take the time to provide practical advice that reflects your individual situation.
Our small group classes make it possible for trainers to observe your progress, answer questions and help you adjust your training techniques throughout each session. This means you’re not simply following a standard lesson plan, you’ll receive guidance that supports both you and your dog’s development.
Whether you’re refining existing skills, building confidence around distractions or continuing your dog’s general education, our trainers work with you to make each class as valuable as possible.
This personalised support also helps owners feel more confident applying what they’ve learned at home. Rather than wondering whether you’re on the right track, you’ll leave each session with practical advice and a clearer understanding of how to continue progressing between classes.
By combining structured learning with individual coaching, our group dog training classes help create a positive learning experience that supports lasting progress for both dogs and their owners.
Will group training help my dog behave better in public?
Group training helps dogs practise important skills around distractions that are commonly encountered in everyday life.
One of the biggest goals for many owners is having a dog that listens reliably outside the home. While learning new skills indoors is important, dogs also need opportunities to practise those behaviours when other dogs, people and exciting surroundings are present.
Our group classes are specifically designed to provide these opportunities within a structured and supportive environment. As your dog learns to focus on you despite nearby distractions, you’ll be building practical skills that can carry over into walks, parks, cafés and other public settings.
You’ll also receive guidance from experienced trainers throughout the process, helping you understand how to continue reinforcing these behaviours outside of class.
Many owners notice that as their dog’s attention and responsiveness improve, everyday outings become more enjoyable. Instead of feeling like every walk is a training challenge, you’ll have greater confidence navigating the situations you encounter together.
While every dog’s progress is individual, consistently practising around distractions helps build the communication and reliability that owners are looking for when they enrol in group dog training classes.
Can I continue training after completing a class?
Yes, our group training options allow you to continue developing your dog’s skills over multiple classes.
Learning doesn’t stop once your dog has mastered the basics. Like any skill, training benefits from ongoing practice, new challenges and continued guidance as your dog develops.
Our group classes are designed to support long-term progress, giving owners the opportunity to refine and advance their dog’s skills over multiple courses. As your dog becomes more confident and capable, you can continue building on the foundations you’ve already established. When you are ready, you may wish to join one of our other classes to challenge you and your dog further.
Ongoing training also allows you to work towards new goals as your lifestyle changes. Whether you’re preparing for more challenging environments, improving reliability around distractions or simply enjoying the routine of training together, continuing your education helps reinforce the skills you’ve already developed.
Many owners find that regular classes keep both themselves and their dogs engaged. Having professional feedback along the way provides reassurance, while training alongside other owners creates a motivating and enjoyable learning environment.
Dog training is an ongoing journey, and continuing to develop your skills together can help strengthen your relationship while making everyday life even more rewarding.
