FAQ’s

Yes, absolutely! Training is about improving everyday life, not just fixing major problems.

Many owners contact us because they feel frustrated by small but constant challenges that add stress to their day. It might be walks that aren’t enjoyable, difficulty getting their dog to listen when distracted, unwanted behaviours around visitors, or simply feeling like communication between them and their dog isn’t where they’d like it to be. While these issues may not seem serious on their own, they can make daily life feel more difficult than it needs to be.

Professional dog training classes with ABT+ help create clearer communication and a better understanding between you and your dog. Rather than constantly managing situations or avoiding certain activities, owners often want the confidence to enjoy more of life with their dog. Whether that’s spending time at home, visiting friends, going for walks, or simply feeling more relaxed in everyday situations, training provides a pathway towards a more cooperative relationship.

Many people begin dog training because they want a better-behaved dog, but often discover that the biggest benefit is feeling more confident and connected to their companion.

It’s never too late to continue your dog’s training journey.

Many owners come to dog training feeling discouraged because they have already invested time and effort into helping their dog. Sometimes dogs learn behaviours well in one environment but struggle to apply them elsewhere. In other cases, owners feel unsure how to progress beyond the basics or maintain consistency as new challenges arise.

Training is often a process rather than a single event. As dogs mature and their environments change, new opportunities for learning and development can arise. The goal isn’t simply to teach a behaviour once—it’s to help owners build practical skills and understanding that can be applied in everyday life.

If you’ve ever felt disappointed because your dog seemed to know what to do but didn’t do it when it mattered most, you’re not alone. Many owners seek professional dog training because they want greater reliability, better communication, and more confidence in real-world situations. Continuing your training journey can help you build on the foundations you already have while working towards the goals that matter most to you.

The goal is to make living with your dog easier and more enjoyable.

When owners think about dog training, they often picture learning commands or attending classes. While those things are important, the real benefit is what happens outside of training sessions. The purpose of dog training is to improve the moments that make up everyday life.

Imagine feeling more confident when taking your dog for a walk, having visitors arrive without worrying about how your dog will respond, or being able to communicate more clearly when you need your dog’s attention. These are often the outcomes owners are working towards.

Professional dog training helps create habits and behaviours that support a smoother relationship between you and your dog. Rather than constantly managing problems or feeling uncertain about how your dog will react, many owners want greater predictability and confidence. The result is often less stress, better communication, and more opportunities to enjoy spending time together.

For many people, the biggest benefit of dog training isn’t what happens during class, it’s the positive impact it can have on everyday life afterwards.

Not at all, dogs can continue learning throughout their lives.

While puppy training provides a fantastic opportunity to establish good habits early, training is not limited to young dogs. Many owners begin professional dog training with adolescent, adult, or older dogs because they want to improve specific aspects of daily life or strengthen existing skills.

Different life stages often bring different challenges. Puppies may be learning the basics of communication and manners, while older dogs may benefit from improving reliability, focus, or responsiveness. Regardless of age, training provides an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between owner and dog while developing practical skills that can be used in everyday situations.

Many owners delay training because they worry they have missed the ideal window, only to discover that their dog is still capable of learning and progressing. Whether you’re starting fresh with a new puppy or looking to continue your older dog’s development, dog training can help create a clearer understanding between you and your dog and support the goals you want to achieve together.

The best option depends on your goals and your dog’s individual needs.

Every dog owner starts their training journey for different reasons. Some are focused on puppy development, others want help with obedience and life skills, while some are looking to improve specific behaviours. Because every dog and household is different, choosing the right training pathway often starts with identifying what you would like life with your dog to look like.

Rather than thinking solely about the behaviour you want to change, it can be helpful to picture the outcome you’re working towards. Do you want more enjoyable walks? Better focus around distractions? Greater confidence in public? A calmer home environment? Understanding your goals helps determine which training option may be the most appropriate fit.

The good news is that professional dog training isn’t just about addressing individual behaviours, it’s about creating a pathway towards a stronger partnership with your dog. Whatever stage of the journey you’re currently at, there is usually an option that can help you continue moving towards the relationship you want to have with your dog.

That’s incredibly common.

Many owners tell us that their dog performs well at home but seems to forget everything when they enter a new environment. This happens because dogs don’t automatically apply skills from one situation to every other situation. Different locations, distractions, people, dogs, sounds, and experiences can all influence behaviour.

This can be frustrating for owners because it creates the impression that their dog understands what is being asked but chooses not to listen. In reality, many dogs simply need help developing consistency across different environments.

Professional dog training helps owners build skills that extend beyond a single location. The goal is to help dogs become more confident and responsive in a variety of situations while helping owners learn how to guide them effectively. As this consistency develops, many owners begin feeling more comfortable taking their dog to different places because they have greater confidence in their ability to communicate and work together.

Because the benefits can impact everyday life for years to come.

For many owners, dog training isn’t really about teaching a particular behaviour, it’s about creating a lifestyle that feels easier, calmer, and more enjoyable. When communication improves between you and your dog, even simple activities can become more rewarding.

Professional dog training provides structured guidance and helps owners develop practical skills they can use every day. Rather than guessing what might work, owners have the opportunity to follow a clear pathway towards their goals while building a stronger relationship with their dog.

Many people choose training because they want to spend less time feeling frustrated and more time enjoying their dog. Whether that’s through better communication, improved reliability, or simply greater confidence when navigating everyday situations, the benefits often extend far beyond the training environment itself.

Viewed this way, training becomes an investment not only in your dog’s development but also in the quality of life you share together.

Think progress, not perfection.

Every dog is an individual, and training outcomes will vary depending on factors such as age, experience, consistency, and goals. Rather than focusing on achieving perfection, most owners find it more helpful to think about the practical improvements they would like to see in daily life.

For some people, success might look like feeling more confident on walks. For others, it could mean clearer communication at home, better focus around distractions, or simply feeling less stressed about their dog’s behaviour. The most meaningful results are often the ones that make life easier and allow owners to enjoy their dogs more fully.

Professional dog training is designed to help you build towards those outcomes over time. As skills develop and understanding grows, many owners find themselves spending less energy managing unwanted behaviours and more time enjoying the companionship that comes from having a well-understood and responsive dog. It usually doesn’t look like a sudden, magical change, but the slow realisation that life is easier. Ultimately, the goal is to help you create a relationship that works better for both you and your dog.
